From a classical dance background I went on to explore, contemporary, flamenco and african dance. It is my love of Egyptian rhythm and traditional music that led me to train with Suraya Hilal in 1990 and spend time in Egypt. I qualified as a Raqs Sharqi Society Teacher, and was also a licensed teacher of the Hilal Foundation. I co-founded Urban Desert in 1995 originally a performance group, we now focus on bringing Egyptian Dance and Music to Junior Schools. Afiliated to Tanz Raum, I teach and perform in UK and abroad. I also perform with Paris based Compagnie Al Fajr.
